JESUITS – gadget @ TTS -Ep47 – Gateway M-151X Laptop

www.TheTechStop.net When you think of powerful, stylish and affordable notebook computers there are a few names that immediately pop into the typical uberGeek mind…. and Gateway probably isn’t one of them. — Though us older uberGeeks will remember when it was nothing but a good thing to have cow spots on the side of your computer, younger geeks don’t have nearly as many good memories about this venerable company. I have many Gateway boxes come through my labs over the years and I have …

Touche, Father Robert. Well put. There is no defense against a good Jesuit education. I’m subscribing to gadgettts. I think your reviews are great. Sorry for being such an ass.

      I knew I’d like you.

BTW- Alter Boy of The Year 1981

      geeksmack!

I haven’t hear from you in a while. Where did you run off to?

In any case, I don’t think that Don was hating. He obviously has some strong feelings about the Jesuits… that’s cool… he’s free to write about them.

Good to hear from you and I hope you’ve enjoyed the changes in the show.

      Peace,
      Fr. Robert

    6. gadgettts says:

      nublerjr,

I really do appreciate that you have always come to by defense, especially since you are a self-avowed atheist, and I enjoy all the letters of support that you have sent over the past few months… but PLEASE don’t turn the comments into a flame war.

Let people write what they want and I’ll respond when I can. Don’t get worked up over it and just be the cool person that I know you to be.

      Peace,
      Fr. Robert

      -Continued-
I have had more great spiritual conversations started by chats about technology than many priests have had through piety and holiness alone. I’m not discounting that type of priesthood, but I am saying that it is NOT the priesthood and ministry that I am called to.

I am irreverant. I swear. I poke and prod at authority and I have no problem questioning my own faith and place in life — but that is one of the wonderful things about the Jesuits, we find God in ALL things.

    8. gadgettts says:

      Don Quixote,

I don’t believe that you have any ill will, but please understand that I hear these kinds of comments every day… many times from my own brother Jesuits. — There is a misconception that because a priest is educated or interested in a field OTHER than Theology or piety, that they have somehow diminished their apostolic calling or their priestly effectiveness.

I very much care to disagree.

Again with the name calling…say something intelligent.

    10. D0nQuix0te says:

Fr. Robert, I mean no ill will. Apparently I did not get my point across. Perhaps, you may be a little clouded and frustrated with me. No hate here. I apologize for my initial comment, truly I do. Please do not mind me. I rather enjoy your videos. Also, I like that people come to your defense. You are a very rich man in that respect. Respectfully, Don Quixote, de la Mancha

Again, it’s not about hate. I never said I hate priest. You are a prime example of what is wrong with so many people. You do not know how to listen (in this case decipher what you read). I’m sorry you have a comprehension problem. BTW- whats with the name calling, is your vocabulary limited? Perhaps Fr. Bob can provide you some education that is out of reach for most people on this planet.

It’s not about hating…I have no hate and never said I hate him. I’m sure if I met him I would really like him. He seems like a fund guy to hang out with. It’s about the truth.

    14. geeksmack says:

Don’t you ever get sick of the haters Fr. RoberT? What is it about YouTube that brings out all the anonymous cowards?

    15. gadgettts says:

I find it interesting that you seem content to make a judgement about an individual just from what you see online. You may have been around Jesuits nearly all your life, but the fact that you see us as two-dimensional entities is rather sad.

    16. nublerjr says:

Hey Don, if you hate priests so much why do you keep coming back here to sprout your hate? We like Fr. Robert. Hes different and not stuffy. What have you ever done with your life to compare with what he does with his on a daily?

In short, stop being a douche.

    17. gadgettts says:

Your problem is that you seem to believe that the Jesuits should be like the Franciscans, or the Dominicans, or perhaps Opus Dei. — We are not.

You don’t like the Jesuits, that much is clear, but please don’t confuse your own personal grudge against the Society of Jesus with the truth of who we are.

    18. gadgettts says:

Here’s an example for you.. In my 14 years as a Jesuit, I have fed the poor in Guaymass, Mexico. Worked with the homeless in Sucre, Bolivia. Lived with the mentally impared in Seattle, Washington. Taught inner-city children in Chicago, Milwaukee and Los Angeles. — I have also seen some great sights around the world, rubbed shoulders with some of the richest men and women in the world and received an education that is out of reach for most people on this planet.

      THAT is the Jesuit legacy.

    19. gadgettts says:

I don’t know about a shiny new Accord, I drive a junky Jetta… but I don’t think that should be the distinguishing mark of our lives. Being a Jesuits is all about being able to do the work. — We use whatever we can find to do that work.

    20. gadgettts says:

When St. Ignatius founded the Jesuits, he DID see them become lawyers, doctors and engineers. That’s why his was the first religious order to DEMAND higher education for its members. It’s strange that “you’ve spend your entire life around Jesuits” and you have not picked up this most basic of facts about the Society of Jesus.

    21. gadgettts says:

Yes… I live with them. I am one. I am proud to be a Jesuit and to carry on the Jesuit tradition.

    22. D0nQuix0te says:

Did he envision his followers driving a shiny new Honda Accord or Camry. Eating at lavish dining establishments ordering the best wine. Come on, who are you trying to kid. I would find it interesting if you never bare witness to this. Why are you not out there saving souls or schmoozing your rich parishioners and alumni for more money. Quick question, in high school this one Jesuit wore a wig, don’t you think there is something wrong with that?

    23. D0nQuix0te says:

Yes, engineers, doctors, lawyers high salary vocations, I find it strange that you would make a comment like that, thus solidifying my point of view.

When Saint Ignatius of Loyola, cast away his Knighthood armor and founded what came to be the largest male religious order of the Catholic Church, the Society of Jesus, do you think he had ideas of having his followers become lawyers, doctors and engineers? When he and his 6 other buddies took a vow of poverty, did they say, lets get a law degree

    24. D0nQuix0te says:

how many other priest do you see on YT hocking (pawning) material costly goods. That’s interesting that you don’t realize that. Believe you me, I have been around Jesuits nearly my entire life and they all seem to carry the same trait. Come on, be honest with yourself, you know what I am talking about, J****, you live with them.

    25. gadgettts says:

      ummmm… ok… kinda random… kinda funny… lotsa sad.
