No… not really. It uses an integrated graphics chipset instead of a discrete video part. In other words, you COULD try to run those games, but performance would be horrible.

Ooops… sorry about that EmperorJEM. I got my comments mixed!
I had the Adobe Master collection running just fine on the T-6836. Those programs don’t take advantage of a high-end discrete graphics part, so the T-Series should be just fine.
Online games, like poker or flash-based shooters, should work fine. It’s the high-framerate, high-quality texture games that will choke the graphics adapter.
If I have a decent internet speed, will this computer be able to handle free onling gaming? And will it play any semi-decent games, even on low settings?
Sounds like a good deal. I too wish for even a basic discrete graphics part for the laptop, but if it allows for 6 hours of battery life, I’ll take the integrated video!
I’m gonna buy one tomorrow in Canada under T-6842. It’s practically the same and for $749.99
I’m a gamer, so its a pity about graphics card. But, thats why I have a 360. Plus I need to use the laptop for school, so its probably a good thing I can’t game on it.
Believe it or not, I’m a big FPS fan. Halo, Bioshock, COD, CS, Crysis… I haven’t been able to put in the time as of late with all my new duties as a priest, but ocassionally I’ll go fraggin with a few friends.
Just got a dv7 from HP, when you mentioned the Gateway’s battery lifetime I was amazed! Even when saving power (still Aero, but no transparency) it barely lasts 2 – 3 hours due to the video card. However it is nice being able to play Crysis very well on it.
Lol at you for mentioning it btw, ever tried it? =) Thanks for the review Father!
Absolutely. If all you going to do is surf, watch IPTV and perhaps do some word processing/number crunching, then this is actually a BETTER configuration for you than a laptop with a full-blown discrete graphics part. — Not only is it cheaper, but the battery will last MUCH longer.
The review process itself can take anywhere from 1 day to 6 months depending on what type of product I’m testing. The episodes themselves generally take about 8 hours each: 2 hours of setup and shooting, 4 hours of editing, 2 hours of post-production. (scrubbing, encoding, uploading, page programming, etc.)

I was asking bout the t 6836 notebook
EmperorJEM,
VERY well. The Intel i7 chip excells at repetitive calculations as found in photo/video editing/rendering.

Fr. Robert
i want to know if i runs photoshop and illustrator well.

The main disadvantage is the video card, but if you family is simply surfing the net and watching on-line TV – is the video card sufficient?
Excellent review.

great review. How long does it take to make an episode of this length?
Hmmmm… for $600 it’s definitely worth it even WITHOUT a better graphics card! (BTW… you’re going to LOVE the battery life.)
I just bought it from Best Buy on sale yesterday for $599, it was originally $799. Its a great laptop. I just wish it had a better graphics card.
Gateway , great equipment………..
It’s nice… just about the right size without any of the “squished” keys that some laptops have. They have a nice throw and it feels sturdy.
What’s the keyboard like?
