I just bought a new hard drive to my laptop cuz on my old hard drive I had like 990 trojans =)
I’ll buy windows xp and I know how to install it/configure it from the boot screen but what if the screen turns white like another guy noticed on one of the comments down below?
but the hdd is working on different notebook but not on dell latitude .
i have new hdd , i install operating system
and when i turn on my notebook ,it’s turn “white” and says i need id and drivers.
but i don’t know what drivers i need.
most of the time when you buy the pc they come with all drivers and a OS cd. If not u can pay some one to do it, or just buy an OS on ebay…
most of the time if not always you lose OS and any other previous programs…
how do you get all the windows programs and os on the new hard drive

I think it was great that you did a video on this, but you left out the part about removing the attachment that covers the pins from your old hard drive and putting it on the new hard drive. I have a inspiron 6000 which has a tray for the hard drive. Apparently the part that fits over the pins varies. A clearer picture of this would help along with the mention of the variation in the hard drive enclosures.
hi mate, I’m trying to fix my laptop at the moment. I don’t know much about it but your vid id helping. Basically my laptop won’t start up, it just stays in the page that says starting windows. So I’m thinking if I remove the hard drive I can save my data, is that true? I have a desktop computer so do you know of a way to sort of connect the hard drive to the computer? I’ve been checking the net and I think I need an enclosure with USB interface. Any tips or advice? thanks

Yea the WD drive should fit fine.. as long as your original drive is sata..

BTW, I have an Inspiron 640m which came with an 80 GB HDD. Now, I want to upgrade it with “Western Digital WD3200BEVT 320GB SATA300 5400RPM Scorpio 2.5-inch Notebook Hard Drive”. Can someone tell me if this HDD is compatible with Inspiron 640m?
