www.thetechstop.net What would you say if I told you that the fastest way to transfer video to your computer, was to leave out the computer? Though it might sound strange, that’s exactly what Pinnacle has done with their PVT. This diminutive device lets you record any S-Video or composite analog source and encode it, on-the-fly, to a USB flash drive, hard drive, iPod, PSP or any other standard USB-enabled media storage device. If you’ve ever needed an easy way to record high-quality video in …

DarkNightj0ker,
You would have to use the composite RCA inputs.
.
Peace,
Fr. Robert
It doesn’t plug into the TV. It has a RCA input and records on a USB drive.

Yes.— It’s just a quicktime file, so ANY OS that recognizes H.264 will work just fine.

megtop412,
Thanks for the report. It’s always nice to hear from somebody who has their own real-world experience of the gadgets that we review.
Peace,
Fr. Robert
Thank you, that was very informative. I just got this in the mail yesterday and used it for the first time today. It was extremely easy to use and produced fantastic results- I recorded a clip from an old VHS tape onto a 4gig Kensington flash drive, transferred to the PC and had it uploaded to youtube within the hour. This is perfect for people who don’t want to mess with conversion software and just want to get the job done.
HereIamReddyorNot,
It could be that the USB drive isn’t fast enough and the device is crapping out after its internal buffer is filled. Have you seen the same problem at all the different resolution sizes? Have you tried different USB storage devices?
This would be an amazing piece of technology if I could get it to work properly. I have an 8Gb Merlin portable USB hard drive (FAT 32) with files on it but about 3Gb free space. The maximum I have been able to transfer without a file size of 0Kb is 2 mins of video, about 20Mb of the transfer. Any more than 2 mins then the file I get is 0Kb. This is driving me crazy as I have to wait until the end of a 2Hr video transfer to see that I have zero data. Can you help.
No HD… sorry.. There are no inputs for a HD device, either component or HDMI.
Peace,
Fr. Robert
i have heard that u cant record in HD. is this true? im asking one of these for christmas, and my xbox 360 is hooked up to my HD tv. couldnt i just keep the HD component cables for the xbox still plugged in and but take out the red yellow and white and put them up to the splitters? because i really dont want to have to take my xbox out of the family room (where the hd tv is) and put in my room everytime i want to record. thanks
External USB hard drives will work just fine.
Peace,
Fr. Robert
I’m pretty sure something similar was answered in the video, but would a WD 160GB External Hard drive “My Book” be used as the storage device?
I have a Flashdrive, but it’s hardly large enough to hold a good amount of video. If I’m able to go without purchasing a new one that would be great.
Thanks a lot guys, thanks to your review i bought this and i am more than satisfied.Quality is great and it is easy to use.If any one wants to see what the vids look like just look on my profile.
OMG Thank you so much i didnt know what to do until i saw this
It doesn’t have a RF input. You would have to use an external RF to analog video tuner.
How could I connect an RF cable to the PVT?
HOLY SHIT
